As gennaker furlers are always handled with an endless furling line, spliced together in a continuous loop, ordinary blocks cannot be used to lead the line back to the cockpit. The Selden Double Fairlead consists of a composite bracket, which fits on to a stanchion, and a spring loaded 'push-and-twist' bracket in stainless steel. This means the fairlead can be opened to allow the line to be inserted.
