Unimer mooring compensators are made of EPDM rubber, a material with excellent resistance to salt water and UV. A mooring compensator made of this rubber does not discolour.
The mooring ropes can be pulled through the nylon clips at each end. This eliminates the need for knots. A simple but safe method, because the more tension on the rope, the better the clips hold.
The stretch length of the Unimer mooring compensators can be adjusted as required:
Make one turn of the rope around the mooring compensator on calm water with no swell or waves.
Make two turns of the rope around the mooring compensator in light wave action and tidal waters.
Make three turns of the rope around the mooring compensator at open and unprotected water. This ensures lots of freedom of movement for the boat and strong damping.
Ideally, every mooring rope should be fitted with a Unimer mooring compensator. Unimer mooring compensators are supplied in four sizes.
